Otani Workshop was born in 1980 in Shiga Prefecture, Japan, and graduated from the Department of Fine Arts at Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts in 2004. Currently, Otani Workshop has become a prominent representative of Japanese ceramic art. Despite its name, Otani Workshop does not refer to a collective of artists but to an independent sculptor. The term "workshop" in the context of Japanese pottery tradition is closer to a "factory" or "studio" where handmade crafts are produced. Otani Workshop's sculptures demonstrate excellent mastery of traditional ceramic craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail. They also examine various art genres from the perspective of human history, incorporating the evolving lineage into their works and infusing them with highly imaginative personalities. Otani Workshop has held solo exhibitions in South Korea, Japan, France, the United States, and China.
