+ OVERVIEW

Bernard Cathelin was born in 1919 in Paris. In 1945, he was enrolled in the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, and was at the same time a student in the studio of French painting master Maurice Brianchon. Cathelin adopted the strong, vivid colors of the Fauvist school and employed brilliantly contrasting tones in his own unique style. "Roses d'Inde" encompasses broad brushstrokes and a warm colour palette of sweet melodious harmony and artistic charm. It exudes extraordinary romantic nostalgia through the use of a warm palette of amber, beige, yellow and autumn greens.
