GU Wenda was born in Shanghai in 1955, an lined in Shangyu in Zhejiang. He graduated from the Shanghai School of Arts in 1976. In 1981 he received his MFA. from the China Academy of Arts where he studied under the classical landscape paintins master Lu Yanshao. He has published several albums of painting, such as Wenda Gu - Art From Middle Kingdom to Biological Millennium (2003). Important Exhibitions: "Gu Wenda's Touring Exhibition" (2003, America); "Gu Wenda's Solo Exhibition" (2006,China). His work, "The Temple of Heaven", once appeared in Art in America as the cover in March 1999, the first Chinese artist. The magazine Orientations, March 2002, had a portrait of the artist on the cover.
