(b. 1944)Born in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, Zhou is a member of Chinese Artist's Association, the vice president of Liaoning Artists Association and of the Oil Painting Guild of Liaoning Province, and the art researcher of Liaoning Citizen's Art Gallery. He graduated from Shenyang Normal College in 1968 and studied in the Oil Painting Department of Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts. His oil paintings have won the Excellence Prize in the 6th and the 8th National Art Exhibition. In 1993, his work, "The Night of Dragon Lantern" was awarded with the Silver Medal by the Chinese Department of Culture Affairs. In 2003, he held the "Oil Painting Exhibition of Zhou Wei" in the gallery at Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts. His painting has the spirit of the northerners, with heavy colors and no restrains. He has been studying the topics relating to ethnic characters and has created a huge amount of work, which have been widely gazetted, exhibited and collected in China and abroad. He has published the "Creativity of Zhou Wei's Oil Painting."
