Chu Fang Yi 朱芳毅
Taiwanese 1976
Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Chu received his BFA in Crafts Design from the National Taiwan Academy of Arts and an MFA in Applied Arts from the Tainan National University of the Arts; as a student, he learned ceramics from Liu Chen-chou, Lu Chi-chang, and Chang Ching-yuan, was invited to be a resident artist at Yingge Ceramics Museum in 2007 and later at the Ceramics Museum of Andenne, Belgium in 2010, and is currently an adjunct lecturer at the National Taiwan University of the Arts and Tainan National University of the Arts. Awards: • 2007 First prize in artistic creation at the 5th Annual Taipei Ceramics Awards • 2007 Gold Medal and Golden Award in single item design at the 4th Annual Taiwan Ceramics Gold Awards • 2008 Selected for entry in the triennial of the International Ceramics Competition Mino in Japan • 2011 Special award from 6th World Ceramic Biennial Korea in 2011.
