Born in Hunan, China. Yim Mau-kun graduated from Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. When he was young, he longed for the Realism style of Russia and Europe. He moved to Hong Kong in 1980 and held his first solo exhibition at the Hong Kong Arts Centro in 1985. He settled down in Taiwan in 1988. Yim was good at figure and landscape paintings and was often invited to portray famous politicians such as Li Teng-hui, Chao Yao-tung and Li Huan. His work was subsequently shown at Apollo Art Gallery in Taiwan and followed by East Gallery, Imavision Art Center and Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall. He currently serves as a guest professor at the Department of Art of Hunan Normal University and a guest painter of Guangdong Academy of Fine Arts. Yim's works has been collected by private museums.
