Minako Abe 阿部 未奈子
Japanese 1974
Born in Chiba, Japan, graduated from the Painting Department of Tokyo Zokei University in 2000. In 2004, Minako gained her master degree from the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, now living and working in Tokyo, Japan. There is no doubt that artist Minako Abe's painting of vast mountain-scapes and soft rolling fields are attracted to the Tokyoite' eyes, but it is her use of colors that ultimately reach out to absorb the viewers. She imports images of landscape into a computer, then twists and skews those images when she transfers them onto a canvas. She does not use a brush, but a roller. Exhibitions participated include: 2010 "Minako Abe Solo Exhibition", Tokyo; 2008 "Minako Abe Solo Exhibition"; 2007 "Landschaft", Tokyo; "Young Japanese Landscape", Vienna; 2006 "Minako Abe Solo Exhibition", Tokyo; 2004 "The Graduation Works Exhibition", Tokyo. Public collections include: MOYA – Museum of Young Art, Vienna, Austria and The West Collections, Oaks, PA, USA.
