PENG Chun-Shi 彭醇士
Taiwanese 1896-1976

Peng Chun-Shi was born in 1896 in Jiangxi. After his graduation from the Chinese University of Peking, he worked for Tongcheng Poet Yao Yonggai and became an all-round scholar excelled in literature, calligraphy and painting. His poems were down-to-earth without over-flourishings instilled with the traditions of Jiangxi Poets. His hand scrolls were published in Nanfu Ji, and he was regarded as one of the prominent poets in Taiwan. His calligraphy works are tranquil and vivid with reference to Teachings of Wang. He excelled in painting landscape and flowers, especially peonies, plum blossoms. His works have been circulating in Taiwan for decades and still remain popular within the community.
