Martyr’s artwork is heavily influenced by the history of art. At once recalling Bauhaus, Surrealism, Futurism, David Hockney, Pop Art. Martyr’s subject matter has largely been urban and natural landscapes. His paintings present hyperreal depictions of postcard-perfect mountains and luxury residences. that were simultaneously seductive yet impossibly utopian. Martyr manages to conjure profoundly emotional and moving works of art that redefine the aesthetic of painting in the new media age.
