Hirokazu Ichii was born in 1980 Kobei City, Hyogo, and he received his B.F.A. and M.F.A. in sculpture at the Tokyo University of Fine Arts in 2004 and 2006. Ichii’s carving techniques derived through mimicking ancient Japanese Buddhist statues. He believes that human and nature are inseparable, and he hopes to promote harmony between people and nature. Having numerous experiences in exhibiting his artwork, Ichii has started hosting his solo exhibitions since 2008 in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nara. He has participated in the Art Fair Tokyo in 2008 and 2010, Art Taipei in 2009 and 2011, and Young Art Taipei from 2012 for three consecutive years. In 2020, he also joined Art Kaohsiung. Ichii won the Salon de Printemps Prize in 2004 and Taiwan International Wood Sculpture Competition in 2013, and his artwork was later collected by Sanyi Wood Sculpture Museum in Taiwan.
