+ OVERVIEW
This small kang table was made with carefully selected huanghuali wood panels, based on its elusive and ripple-like grain structure, the natural beauty of huanghuali wood. Attached by several panels, this small table has a short apron and uprising edges. The apron is curved and decorated with ruyi cloud patterns. Curvaceous pattern from the apron runs down to the cabriole legs, suggesting an elegant and extravagant design of Ming furniture.
These cabriole legs are typical forms of Ming kang furniture. Due to the curvaceous design, the design should be carved in one single piece of wood, hence excellent craftsmanship and material quality would be required. Cabriole legs have a wavy style, curving outwards, and then bent inwards. Cabriole style evolved over time in multifarious details, enriching the styles of Chinese traditional furniture.
