+ OVERVIEW
From the 1960s to the 1990s, the influx of Western art methodologies ignited heated discussions on the art depiction. In 1994, Sun Yun-Sheng was invited by the National Museum of History of Taiwan to teach Chinese Paintings. It was the time when art development diverged into multivarious trends and under such a background, this splash painting was created. This painting was dominated with colours. Black ink was used to demonstrate the encroachment of clouds. Autumn landscape after the rain was depicted. Humid steam rose forming mists and clouds veiling over layers of mountains. With a combination of gongbi and splash techniques, a misty landscape painting was created. The scholar's state of mind echoes with that of the artist. Later in his career, Sun devoted more time to art education, promoting the style of Dafeng Tang.
