Born in 1988, Jian Yi Hong graduated from the National Taipei University of the Arts. Currently, he works and lives between Taipei and Yilan. He got the Taipei Arts Award in 2014 and the Zhang Guangbin Painting and Calligraphy Award. Jian Yi Hong's creations use colored ink as the main medium. His paintings often depict nude male figures in the humorous and imaginative way and unfolds narrative scenes. At first glance, his works may seem traditional Chinese painting, however, upon closer examination, viewers can see the artist's hidden emotions and experiences.
Jian Yi Hong's recent exhibitions include "The Sweetness of Life" at the Michael Ku Gallery in 2021, "AMOUR Love Well" at the Michael Ku Gallery in 2019, "Singing with Electric Bodies" at the David Zwirner Gallery Hong Kong in 2019, "Tropical Cyclone" at the Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts in 2017, and "Subcurrents · Writing" at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum.
